From the Office of The Director Steve Razidlo

Dear ASD Families,

On my hurried walk back to the office for another Thursday meeting, I said a quick hello to a couple of our students during outdoor recess. They both had masks on but pulled them down to ask me “How is your day?” Kindness, politeness, and courtesy are shown every day here at the American School of Doha, and I always enjoy the chance to check in with students and staff… and at the risk of repetition, I note that kindness and a warm welcome is an ASD strength I hope we cherish and keep feeding!

Hygiene and Covid Protocols

COVID-19 cases in both the HS and LES divisions, coupled with the worldwide attention to yet a new COVID-19 variant are reminders to us all of our need to maintain the health and safety protocols, especially in our indoor spaces. Masks do not need to be worn outside, but hand washing, hand sanitizing, keeping any sick children home, and social distancing are still potent protections we cannot forget.

ASD Board Chair Transition

At the November 30 Board of Directors meeting, the ASD Board elected Mr. Julio Tamacas (ASD Board Treasurer since 2020) to replace Mr. Tom Mc Hale, who had served as Chair of the Board since 2016. We wish to congratulate Mr. Tamacas on his recent election and offer him best wishes in taking on this great responsibility within our school community. Please see Julio’s letter below.

Giving Tree

As part of our annual celebration of the December holidays, please note the link below to support the Giving Tree opportunity we share as one means of saying thank you to the great teams of workers who serve all across the school. Please click HERE to Join Us and Make Someone’s Dream Come True!

Community Workshop

Survey themes of the commentary regarding our ASD Identity/Mission/Vision/Core Values will be shared for deeper discussion in fast-approaching community events are now set for Saturday, December 4, and Sunday, December 12. We hope to have many members of our community join us to participate in a facilitated, collaborative meeting designed to further consolidate and refine our thinking about the statements ASD upholds and uses to guide our strategic action and our continuous improvement in years ahead. Please see the details below and click to volunteer to participate.

Sincerely,

Steve Razidlo

Director of the American School of Doha
