From the Upper Elementary principal's Desk

Dear Upper Elementary School Parents,

From our Upper Elementary Family to yours, we wish you the best winter vacation with your family and friends. As we wrap up this year, we look forward to the upcoming year with hope, positivity, and a renewed energy to continue serving our students here at ASD.

Here in the Upper Elementary School, we have been working diligently to teach students our school expected behaviors. This has been challenging at times, since students have been away from school for so long. When we are teaching these expectations, students are learning what it means to be Dragon Ready, throughout the building. Dragon Ready is what we use, when kids demonstrate our expectations. This could mean they are playing fairly, following directions the first time, or holding the door for a classmate. Throughout the month of January, we’ll continue this work, as we teach kids our expectations for the classroom, hallways, recess, lunchroom, and restrooms.

Another area, related to school expectations, is our student dress code. In Grade 5, our counselors have been working with boys and girls on appropriate dress for school. These suggestions are around safety, such as not wearing flip-flops to PE, or around modesty, such as wearing shorts that are past fingertip length. We appreciate your partnership with the school to ensure students come dressed according to our ASD standards.

Please see the What’s on on the right hand side of this page (or below depending on your device) for our upcoming UES calendar into the New Year.

Have a restful break, and we’ll see you next year!

In partnership,

Mr. Toby Tebo

Upper Elementary School Principal

From our School Community

The 18th of December, what an amazing date… On this day, Qataris decorate their cars and houses by putting on the national flag or other patriotic symbols. The country's flag is a unique combination of national identity and pride, a symbol of significance and belonging. National Day is an annual reminder of the country's core values, loyalty, solidarity and pride.

Like every year AMA with the collaboration with Al Fardan Group, decorated ASD with the two combined valuable colors, to let the students feel the importance of this day, and refresh their loyalty to this generous country.

On behalf of AMA we would like to congratulate the Arabic communities and all the expatriates and wishing a peaceful Holiday.

AMA Committee would like to thank “Brain Education” for a very inspiring and enlightening speech session for last Sunday conducted by Master Maz. His words and experiences are very strong and powerful that made us understand ourselves more and better and it can really help us in our everyday lives.

We will have another session with different topics this coming year and we encourage everyone to join us then as it is very worth it!

The link for the whole session will be shared with you soon.
