Update November 4, 2021

The ASD Dragons swim team is participating in their MESAC Championships from Tuesday, November 9 through Thursday, November 11. This year the event is virtual with racing being held at the six schools around the region and results being reported at the end of each day. The results will be combined and scored each evening and by the end of Thursday, we will know the individual and team champions for MESAC swimming.

There are more than 30 members of the swim team who have been training four sessions a week since the beginning of the year. The team is quite strong and should be in the running for the overall team title. There will be some excellent individual results, all contributing to the team's point tally.

The swim team would love the support of the ASD community. Racing will take place each afternoon starting at 4:30 pm and running until just after 6:00 pm. We are hoping to live stream the events but watching in person and providing some loud cheers would be awesome.

We hope to see you out on the pool balcony next week. If you want a front row seat we are always looking for help on deck with timing the events. Please send Jeff Slater (jeff.slater@asd.edu.qa) an email if you are available any day to help out.

The team appreciates your support and we look forward to seeing you next week. Go Dragons!

Update: April 8, 2021

Based on information from the government and ASD, it appears unlikely that we will be returning to the pool for this Season. It was a year ago that we were in the same situation. At that time we allowed people to carry their account forward and use that for registration in the Fall, 2020. We are NOT going to do that this year.

We are going to process refunds for all payments made for Season 3. We will be making bank transfers for all payments and these involve a charge of about QAR20 for processing - this fee will be deducted from the refund. We are not able to issue cheques for refunds.

We need a few pieces of information from you to issue your refund. We will submit this to our Finance people and you will have the refund in your account in a couple of weeks. Send to hydra.headcoach@asd.edu.qa

We cannot predict the course that the government will take with reopening pools. If there is an opportunity we will offer camps or short sessions during the next couple of months. Failing that our main focus will be on a full opening in September. Updates and changes will be noted through social media, on our website and by email. If you are moving or do not want to receive our email alerts please let me know and I can remove you from our list.

Fall 2021 planning is happening now and we are looking forward to offering a full program again. Registration details for Fall 2021 will be distributed in August through email, on our website and by social media. Please check with us in mid-August, our dream is that we are in the water to start the 2021-2022 season on Saturday, August 28 (competitive) or Saturday, September 4 (lessons).

Thanks again for a fantastic year. We are so appreciative of our community of swimmers and their families. It was an odd year with no parents on deck and we hope we have the opportunity to see you regularly face to face rather than just through email. Please stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Jeff and HYDRA Coaching Team
