Upper Elementary

December 9, 2021

From the Upper Elementary principal's Desk

Dear Upper Elementary School Parents,

I’m sure you are excited for the upcoming Winter Break and the adventures you will be taking either here in Doha, or throughout the world. I’ve enjoyed hearing from our students, as they share their destinations for this break. Many are going on amazing trips, visiting relatives, and getting some down time before the new year. My family is going to be taking our first adventure from Doha, visiting Italy and France. We are busy purchasing warm clothes to use on this European adventure.

A few parents have reached out, as they prepare for their upcoming travels, with questions about what happens in the case that their children have to quarantine after traveling abroad. ASD is back to full-time schooling, with students present each day. This makes it nearly impossible to run any quality virtual instruction. The teacher is fully engaged with the students in front of them. If you find your children in quarantine, the school will not be supplying education while they are out. For students who may end up in quarantine, appropriate activities could include reading their own books, writing in a journal, and practicing math on Zearn.

Next week, we’ll also be celebrating Qatar National Day all week long, since we won’t be in school on December 18. On Wednesday, we’ll have a Qatar Spirit Day, during which students will wear their Qatar colors!

As we move towards the last week of school prior to break, I wanted to wish you the best in your preparations for this time. Whether you are staying put and enjoying this beautiful weather, or if you’re traveling abroad, I hope your plans become a fun reality for your family.

In partnership,

Mr. Toby Tebo

Upper Elementary School Principal

American School of Doha
