From the Office of The Director Steve Razidlo

Dear ASD Families,

We begin Sahifa this week with a thank you to all of our parent groups for the many and varied contributions they make to our ASD community. PTA, Booster Club, Jr/Sr Parents, Arab Mothers Association, CAST, and the Black Family Heritage Association are all becoming more active, and advancing a call for new volunteers to join in their scheduled meetings and activities. See below for more detailed information on all of our campus groups.

AMA: Arab Mothers Association

Booster Club: Booster Club & Store

BFHA: Black Family Heritage Association

Jr/Sr Parents: Junior Senior Parent Committee

Looking forward, we announce the return of after school activities (ASA’s) for our Elementary students starting November 7. Additionally, we offer a detailed reminder below to all students to use their DragonCards for campus access.

Lastly, this week we share a note about conversations regarding the school calendar during the upcoming (November 30 - December 18, 2021) FIFA Arab Cup. MOEHE has communicated that school operations will run as normal during the upcoming tournament. Should Ministry guidance change, ASD will be ready to pivot to synchronous, online learning.

Sincerely,

Steve Razidlo

Director of the American School of Doha

Campus Access

Our security team has noted that many students are trying to enter the campus without their DragonCard. This means students have to be processed manually in order to access campus, contributing to a long queue at all gates that spills into the parking lot and contributes to traffic. Please be advised that security is documenting when students attempt to enter the campus without their DragonCard for 3 or more consecutive days. If a student tries to enter campus for 5 days without a DragonCard we will automatically reissue the student a new DragonCard and deactivate their old card. The cost of the replacement is 50QR which will be deducted from the family account. In the event there are insufficient funds in the account, we will issue the card, but log this as an outstanding student obligation (i.e. PowerSchool reports will not be viewable until obligations are addressed).

We ask that all ASD students bring their DragonCard with them to school each day. If your child’s card is lost, they can purchase a new one for 50QAR upon their next arrival to ASD (available in central administration). Please ensure that sufficient funds are available on your child’s DragonCard.
