From the Office of The Director Steve Razidlo

Dear ASD Families,

This week is short, but still wonderful to note that shifting to school for all students is a gift to learners and teachers alike. We hope all of our families remain safe and healthy over the fall vacation.

On Sunday, ASD hosted Nadine Menendez, wife of U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (New Jersey), who toured the campus and shared her great admiration for the behavior of our students and for the wonderful opportunities provided for ASD students. She remarked that ASD is as large as some university campuses, and shared numerous compliments regarding seeing happy, engaged learners! Later that day, it was my pleasure to take a tour of the Equine Veterinary Medical Center facility, where I had a chance to witness one of our ASD students, Angel Revsbech Grade 11, who along with four other ASD High Schoolers are afforded the opportunity to shadow professionals, participate in and/or witness veterinary and medical procedures, and begin formal relationships with possible mentors and advocates…all in a world-class facility in Doha! When we speak about inspiring and empowering students, shadow/internship programs such as this one are stellar examples of what is possible when we cultivate great partnerships.

After the upcoming break, October 17 will herald the return of MS students to after school activities; ASA’s for our elementary students will soon follow, and parents should note we continue to build back programs carefully while following MOPH guidance.

Sincerely,

Steve Razidlo

Director of the American School of Doha

A message From ASD Nursing

Greetings From ASD Nursing,

We have been so excited and humbled to have all of our students back on campus daily. We are also excited that in our Middle School and High School Divisions we have a high vaccination rate against COVID-19 among students. For students 12 years of age and above who are vaccinated against COVID-19 if you have not done so yet please submit the vaccination certificate or card on the ASD COVID-19 Vaccination Form. You may also send this directly to the nurses at laureen.tordecillas@asd.edu.qa or carmen.jones@asd.edu.qa. Please DO NOT send an Ehteraz screenshot as this won’t be sufficient documentation.

Please be mindful that after break those who have students 12 years of age and older that have not presented a vaccination card or certificate will be required to undergo weekly testing. The families who have opted not to vaccinate their student and to do the weekly testing will receive the link to upload results weekly. If this is not done students will no longer be able to access campus until we receive the necessary documentation.

Have a restful and enjoyable break!

A message From the ES Library

**This schedule will begin on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

We are pleased to announce the reopening of the Elementary School Library after school for adults. We will be open from 3:00pm – 4:00pm Sunday through Thursday with the exception of PACT Tuesdays (closing at 12:30pm).

Parents can come in to check books out, return books, and have a quiet place to read with your child.

If you do not yet have a parent account to check out extra books for your student(s), we can take care of that when you come in.

**Students are only allowed in the library after school with a parent or MS/HS sibling.
