Upper Elementary

October 7, 2021

From the Upper Elementary principal's Desk

Dear Upper Elementary School Parents,

What an amazing week! Having your children 100% on campus this week made this school feel alive once again. I appreciate your support as we have had some growing pains surrounding arrival, dismissal, and getting accustomed to kids being here full time. I’m impressed with the kindness students are demonstrating, and their embracing of our school health and safety guidelines.

The safety of our students is the foundation of our work here in the UES. Part of our plan is to ensure our students know about personal safety. Our Counselors will soon be presenting to each student about this topic. Here is a letter describing the lessons. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Sara or Mike. Their contact information is in the letter.

A huge thank you goes out to our ASD PTA for their efforts at our recent ES Book Fair. Over this past week, this community event was a huge hit. The students loved perusing the books. I visited the book fair numerous times and never left without seeing multiple kids excited about new books and reading.

Our report cards and parent conferences are coming up near the end of this month and the beginning of November. Report cards will be available to view in PowerSchool on October 28 and parent conferences will be on Nov 3 (in the evening) and Nov 4 (before noon). Please be aware that there will be no school for students on Thursday, Nov 4. Additional details for these conferences will be coming out on Sunday, Oct 17 after the Fall break.

I hope you get a chance to enjoy this weekend and the upcoming October Break with your family and friends. Our family is planning an adventure, and we are excited to get out there and explore Qatar. As always, please reach out to our UES Office (4459-1550) if you have any questions during office hours (7:30 am - 3:30 pm Sunday - Thursday).

Regards,

Mr. Toby Tebo

A message from the ES Library

**This schedule will begin on Sunday, October 17, 2021

We are pleased to announce the reopening of the Elementary School Library after school for adults. We will be open from 3:00pm – 4:00pm Sunday through Thursday with the exception of PACT Tuesdays (closing at 12:30pm).

Parents can come in to check books out, return books, and have a quiet place to read with your child.

If you do not yet have a parent account to check out extra books for your student(s), we can take care of that when you come in.

**Students are only allowed in the library after school with a parent or MS/HS sibling.

A message from Aquatics

Dear ASD Community,

My name is Amanda Allen and I wanted to introduce myself to the community as the Aquatics Director. I am very pleased to inform you that ASD's Aquatics facilities are now permitted to operate with full programming! You will notice in the upcoming weeks that you will find information from your child's Physical Education teacher regarding swimming embedded within the curriculum. In addition, we will also be communicating after school opportunities from the ASD Athletics Department in the near future. The entire ASD Aquatics team is very excited to welcome back students and support your child's continual progress within the Aquatics curriculum.

Kind Regards,

Amanda Allen
