Upper Elementary

From the Upper Elementary principal's Desk
Dear Upper Elementary School Parents,
I hope you are doing well, and as always, I thank you for your partnership with our school. This week has been an excellent one. Thank you to the nearly 60 parents who showed up for our online 'Approaches to Learning' night. I appreciate your questions and attendance at our meeting to share our curriculum. This week also saw the completion of our UES student pictures. It was so nice to see students put on their best clothes, smile and return back to the normalcy of school pictures.
This upcoming week starts with a Professional Learning Day on Sunday, September 19. There will be no school or online learning for students. On this day, staff will receive extensive training on collaboration centering around student data. Using reading, writing, and math data, teams will draft goals and set expectations for the year. I’m thrilled to work with our staff to set tailored goals towards our student needs. Please also note that since it is a shortened week for students, Tuesday the 21 is a full day of learning with a 3:00 pm dismissal.
This upcoming week is also the start of our MAPS Testing. This online test is adaptive, which means that it adapts to student performance. It gets easier if the student is getting questions wrong, or it gets more difficult if they answer correctly. It keeps up this adaptive style until it finds out the skill range for your child. We take this data and use it to help determine the best next steps for students, the class, and the grade level. We appreciate you ensuring your child gets a good night’s rest and takes their time to do their best. Each student will take the reading and math versions of MAPS in the fall, winter, and then in the spring. Results will be shared with you after the testing windows close.
Enjoy your weekend.
In Partnership,
Mr. Toby Tebo

Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family. In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.
Looking for a program for both boys AND girls where children from Kindergarten through Grade 5 learn tangible and intangible skills through activities such as camping, skits, community service, building, and more?
