From the Upper Elementary principal's Desk
Dear Upper Elementary School Parents,
I hope you have had a wonderful week. In the UES, our week started on Sunday with a Professional Learning Day. The focus of this day was on developing instructional goals throughout the division. To craft these goals, our staff used a systematic approach called Professional Learning Communities (PLC). This structure has a foundation of student work at the center, where our staff learn to analyze these results to decide the next best steps for instruction. Using our beginning of the year benchmark data, our staff are focusing their efforts towards student needs.
As we reach the end of the first month of school, I wanted to reiterate the importance of attendance. This is especially true as we have a diminished time with students in-person. Thanks for having your student here each day they are healthy to attend. When they are not here, we miss them, and they miss out. As a reference, once certain levels of absenteeism are reached, students may receive a “Not enough evidence” grade or may even lose their enrollment position. Thanks for your support encouraging routine attendance.
The effects of the pandemic on students can be profound. Our Counselors have been working diligently to welcome and surround our students with care and compassion. To find out more about our Counseling Program, please join us for a Parent Coffee on Monday, September 27, 8:15 am - 9:15 am, via Zoom. The main topic for discussion will be about setting routines at home, and there will be time for questions. You will enjoy getting to know Sara and Mike.
As always, thank you for your strong partnership.
Regards,
Mr. Toby Tebo
